NDA designed Hotel wins GBE Award Hotel Design
NDA Group is delighted to announce that we have won the prestigious GBE Hotel Design Award 2024 for architecture in the Hotel Indigo Kanas Hemu project！
The GBE Hotel Design Awards, part of the GBE Luxury Hotel & Resort Forum, aim to highlight the most innovative players in the Chinese hotel industry.
This award is not only a recognition of NDA’s innovate design ethos where we highlight tradition and elevate local culture, but also a milestone achievement of our dedicated hotel design division, NDA Hospitality.
Hotel Core Concept
Hotel Indigo is one of IHG Group’s most exciting brands, where the brand philosophy seeks to authentically embody the locale it is set in, which perfectly aligns with NDA’s design ethos of celebrating and uplifting local culture.
Known as the “Private Land of God” Hemu occupies a mythical place in the public imagination with vistas of soaring mountains, sweeping grasslands and perhaps one of the last cultures on Earth where horses remain an integral part of life.
Our work on this 137 room hotel starts by immersing ourselves in the village and its surroundings where we find magic in the local architecture, discover a strong sense of community in the culture, and marvel at how pristine the nature is.
We channel these three elements to create a built space that speaks to the traditions of Hemu whilst offering guests extraordinary experiences that immerse, amaze, and educate.
Architectural Design
Perhaps the most visually striking tribute to Hemu culture in our design is the distinctive canopy of roofs that mimic the beautifully irregular wood roof skyline of Hemu Village, manifest the unmistakable feeling of community in this remote locale and simultaneously echo the undulating mountain range framing the sky.
Our selection of building materials further enhances the idea of bringing Hemu into the hotel experience, particularly in our use of locally sourced mossy grey stone, which is of the same stock the locals use, and the wood-coloured aluminium façade which echo century old Hemu homes.
With this property setting the standard for luxury sporting experiences in the region we ensure our guests an extraordinary stay with careful attention to details like incorporating Ski-in Ski-out routing so they can start their adventure at a moment’s notice.
At Hotel Indigo Kanas Hemu, our value alignment with that of the Indigo brand, and juxtaposed with the extraordinary experience at Hemu, means this hotel promises to be a landmark that springboards intrepid explorers into a destination simply waiting to be revealed.

NDA Hospitality’s expertise ensures smooth collaboration with clients and hotel brands. Our team, comprised of former hoteliers with rich hospitality experience, works closely with the architecture team to design hotels that benefit all stakeholders—guests, owners, and operators.
We plan hotel projects with operational efficiency in mind, understanding that easier operations lead to higher staff retention, increased guest satisfaction, and greater financial returns for owners.
NDA's Vision
Our work on Hotel Indigo Kanas Hemu is part of our broader effort in creating the Jikepulin Ski Resort, where we brought our vision for the initial development strategy, planning expertise, and design skills to develop a world-class resort. We believe that a world-class ski and 4 seasons mountain experience should be complemented by world-class accommodation.
